Goals and competencies

The goals of this Master's degree are in line with the stipulates of the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (MECES) and ensure the achievement of the basic competencies required to obtain a master's degree, following article 3.3, Appendix I of R.D. 1393/2007.

Fulfilment of the goals means students have achieved competencies that must be consistent with the fundamental rights of equality between men and women, with the principles of equal opportunities and universal accessibility for the disabled, and with the values proper to a democratic and peace-loving culture.

Number of places for new students

Total number of places available: 25

Reserved places: 5% for students with a certified disability of 33% or more.

Specific admission conditions

Specific requirements:

The Master's Academic Committee will decide on applications for admission in accordance with the pre-registration procedure established by the UAH.

entry profile: Criminalistics professionals, as well as other graduates interested in Forensic Sciences.

Selection criteria: Students will be chosen, at each time, by the Master's Direction, taking into consideration the CVs of the students and scoring each application, taking into account, in descending order: professional experience in the field of Criminalistics and Police and Forensic Sciences or in areas related to the Master's degree, Doctoral studies, Master's Degree studies, Specialist Degrees and university experts, Bachelor's Degrees, Engineering Degrees, affinity with the Master's studies, accredited courses and seminars related to the subject of the Master's, accredited languages, motivation letter (stating the reasons why you want to study the Master's and the optional subject you would like to register in) and interview (optional).

Besides, admission is conditioned by the number of places that can be filled in each of the specialities offered, according to the availability of the laboratories where they are carried out, so that, in addition to the above-mentioned criteria, affinity is assessed according to the following lines of study of the Master's degree (Forensic Acoustics, Forensic Anthropology, Ballistics and instrumental traces, Documentography and Graphistics, Forensic Electronics and Computer Science, Forensic Genetics, Forensic Image and Infography, Lofoscopy, Forensic Chemistry) and the training needs of the Spanish State Security Forces and Corps. For this reason, 10% of the places are reserved for foreign members of the Security Forces and Corps, who will be admitted as long as they meet the requirements for enrolment in the University Master's Degrees of Spanish universities.

Fees: 1st matriculation: nationals and residents: 6.035 € ; non-EU non-residents: 9.035 €  (approximate information).

Timetable

Monday to Friday, from 16:00 to 19:00 for the general module subjects, and according to the optional subject chosen in the specialisation module.

Subjects from the Specialisation Module are taught in the laboratories of the General Headquarters of the Scientific Police, the Criminalistics Service of the Guardia Civil or the National Institute of Toxicology and Forensic Sciences, depending on the chosen speciality.
