Certificates and Titles

The University of Alcalá:


1. Issues personal academic certificates that incorporate an electronic signature and secure verification code. The document is generated in PDF format. It has the status of an original document, so there is no longer any need to request certified copies of it.

It is requested at the University's E-Office and is available in the User Menu, Personal Area of the same.

2. It is not responsible for any procedures that, after the Certificate has been issued, you may need to carry out to legalise this document for the purposes of its presentation in a foreign country.

Applying for the Master’s degree certificate

Requisites for application: to have successfully completed the plan of studies, to have obtained the certificate of completion, and to have paid all matriculation fees.

Please bear the following in mind:

  • Application for the certificate implies the closure of your academic file. Once closed, no new entries can be made to it.
  • If the Master has various specialities and you have already applied and paid for the certificate once, you thereafter need only apply for a duplicate certificate.
  • The certificate will be issued on application, subject to payment of the public fee valid at the time of application.
  • For all procedures related to the application you need a user ID and password. If you do not remember them, click here.
  • Steps to follow:
  1. Access to MI PORTAL and check at My academic progress that you have obtained the certificate of completion of the University Master’s Degree in … and that all your matriculation fees have been paid and that you have no unsettled debts with the University at the Receipts
  2. Fill in and sign the Master’s degree certificate application form.
  3. At Receipt management generate your payment slip. If you belong to a large family the corresponding discount will be applied automatically provided your file is up to date. If not, before continuing send a copy of your card to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es
  4. Send the application, proof of payment and a legible and up-to-date photocopy of both sides of your DNI (Spanish citizens) or Passport or NIE (foreign citizens) to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es 
  5. If you satisfy the requirements, the process of issuing your certificate will commence. If not, the process will be suspended until you satisfy them or furnish all due documentation.
Issue of certificate

While the issue of your certificate in material form is in process, you may request the issue of a provisional supplementary certificate.

Collection of certificate

Once the certificate has been issued, we shall notify you at the email address that appears on your file. You may collect it:

At the Postgraduate and Non-Regulated Studies Students Office, only and exclusively, previous request of appointment. If you want to request an appointment clic here:

  • In person: you will need to bring proof of your identity your DNI (Spanish citizens) or NIE/Passport (foreign citizens), or the national document of a country of the European Union.
  • By another person: they will need to be authorised by power of attorney in order to collect the certificate on your behalf. If the power of attorney is issued abroad, it must be duly authenticated and translated into Spanish and you have to submit a copy officially authenticated (by a notary, a competent administrative body or by the Spanish embassy or consulate in the country that issued the document).or the original and a copy (authenticated the copy we will return the original)

If you reside in an autonomous region other than that of the University or abroad, subject to payment of the fee set by the University you may ask for the certificate to be sent through the Education Inspectorate or Education Office of Government Delegations of Sub-delegations, respectively, of the autonomous region where you wish to collect your certificate, or through the Spanish diplomatic representation in your country of residence.

Steps to follow when requesting postage:

  1. Complete and sign the Application for postage of certificate.
  2. Go to Receipts management and generate your payment slip.
  3. Send the application together with payment slip to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es  
  4. Should a certificate sent to the address given on the form be returned to the University for reasons beyond its control, a new request form will have to be completed and a new payment made in order to reuse this service.

The University Master’s Degree takes full effect from the date payment has been made of the fees for its issue.

Once applicants have paid their degree certificate issuance fees, they may request if necessary, a provisional degree certificate which shall serve as a substitute of equal value until such time as the definitive certificate is issued. This provisional certificate will contain the basic information which must appear on the corresponding degree certificate.  

To do so, they must complete the Provisional supplementary degree certificate application form and send it to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es

Adding a new specialty to the certificate
  • If the Master has various specialties and you have already applied and paid for the certificate once, you thereafter need only pay the fee for a duplicate certificate.
  • Fill in and sign the Degree certificate duplicate application form.
  • At Receipt management generate your payment slip. If you belong to a large family the corresponding discount will be applied automatically provided your file is up to date. If not, before continuing send a copy of your card to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es .
  • Present the application, proof of payment, a legible and up-to-date photocopy of both sides of your DNI (Spanish citizens) or Passport or NIE (foreign citizens) and the original certificate at the Postgraduate and Ongoing Education Student Secretariat.
Loss of theft of original
  • Before requesting the duplicate, you must publish an announcement in the Official State Bulletin (BOE). Publication of the announcement and payment of the associated cost are your own responsibility.
  • Complete, sign and send to secalum.postgrado@uah.es or hand in in person at the Postgraduate and Ongoing Education Students Secretariat the Text for publication in BOE form. You will receive the text by the means indicated on your application form.
  • You must publish the text of the announcement in the BOE at www.boe.es
  • Once one month has elapsed since publication of the announcement in the BOE, you must apply for the issue of a duplicate and generate the receipt for payment at Receipts management. If you belong to a large family the corresponding discount will be applied automatically provided your file is up to date. If not, before continuing send a copy of your card to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es .
  • Send the application, proof of payment and a legible and up-to-date photocopy of both sides of your DNI (Spanish citizens) or Passport or NIE (foreign citizens) and a photocopy of the announcement published in the BOE to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es  
Deterioration of original or other eventualities
  • Fill in and sign the Degree certificate duplicate application form.
  • At Receipt management generate your payment slip. If you belong to a large family the corresponding discount will be applied automatically provided your file is up to date. If not, before continuing send a copy of your card to: secalum.postgrado@uah.es .
  • Present the application, proof of payment, a legible and up-to-date photocopy of both sides of your DNI (Spanish citizens) or Passport or NIE (foreign citizens), the original certificate and any documents accrediting other eventualities at the Postgraduate and Ongoing Education Student Secretariat.
