Pre-registration / Admission

The pre-registration and admission process to Master's degrees will be carried out in the period from 04th March to 20th June 2024.

In this period, the following phases for the allocation of places are established:

  • Until 20th April, 40% of the places may be allocated.
  • Until 15th May, up to 90% of the places may be allocated.
  • By 20th June, all places will be allocated.

If there are Master's degrees in which there are vacancies, an extraordinary pre-registration period will be opened between 18th July and 30th August 2024.

The Postgraduate Open Programme (POP) and the Micro-Master's Degrees will open the pre-registration period on 15th July 2024, ending on 30th July 2024.

You can be admitted throughout the entire pre-registration period, and the deadline doesn't need to have passed to be admitted. The result of the admission will be sent to the e-mail address provided. It is recommended that you check your spam/junk e-mail folders.

Here you will find all the information about the administrative calendar.

It is important to bear in mind that if you do not matriculate you will lose your place; however, you will be able to reactivate your pre-registration in those master's degrees in which there are free places.

Waiting lists will be established for those master's degrees that have filled their places. Students who are on this list will be informed of the order in which they are placed on the list and if admitted, they will formalise the matriculation in the following matriculation period.

The University of Alcalá will guarantee, in case of admission, priority in access, admission and matriculation for students holding an official university degree in the academic year 2023-24 or earlier.

Admission to a Master’s degree programme is made through the pre-registration application.

This application is only for new students. If you have already matriculated in a Master’s degree but have not yet completed the plan of studies, you do not need to pre-register a further time but must simply matriculate.

Steps to be taken?

  1. Check that you satisfy the general entry requirements and the specific requirements for admission to the Master’s as set out in the Master's prospectus.
  2. Check the dates on the administrative calendar.
  3. Go to pre-registration in University Master’s, and apply for a place on the Master’s degrees of your choice. Please bear in mind that:
    1. You must upload the required electronic documents in PDF format (the files cannot weigh more than 4 MB each, and the total size must not exceed 10 MB).
    2. You may apply for a maximum of 5 university master’s degrees in order of preference.
  4. Consult, in the Master's degree of your choice, the possible particularities that may exist regarding admission, deadlines, results, waiting lists, etc.
  5. You will be notified by email of the result of your admissions (check unwanted mail and/or spam trays). You may also check it on the pre-registration tool.
    1. If admitted, you will need to proceed as follows:
      • Pay 250 € to reserve your place through this application. This amount will be deducted from the matriculation fee and can under no circumstances be reimbursed except if the Master's is not finally held. Nevertheless, if you do not matriculate, the amount will be held for your use in the following two academic years should you be admitted onto a master’s degree (after you have pre-registered for the corresponding course again).
Information on how to reserve a place: Exemptions and payment procedure.
The payment must be made within three days of notification of admission. Failure to pay to reserve your place in the period indicated will result in your non-admission onto the programme. In that case, you may reactivate your pre-registration at any time by applying for a place on the same or another Master’s degree.
      • Present the required documentation at the Postgraduate School before 31st October 2024.
      • Formalise your matriculation within the open period or that will be open when you receive your admission, otherwise, you will lose your place. The user ID and password are the same as for pre-registration. If after matriculation you want to refuse your place, you must cancel matriculation as soon as possible, always keeping in mind the periods and regulations applicable.
    2. If not admitted, you may appeal against your non-admission in the three days following notification by email. You may not appeal if the reason for non-admission is "failure to pay to reserve the place in the time established".
  6. If after matriculation you are unable for any reason to take up your place, you must cancel matriculation in the periods established for the purpose.
  7. All paperwork or enquiries related to pre-registration and admission onto university Master's degrees must be made at:

To be admitted to a Master's degree programme you must meet the entry requirements below. These requirements depend on the country of origin of your university degree. In any case, if you come from a non-Spanish-speaking country, you must accredit a command of the Spanish language equivalent to level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Accreditations issued by the Instituto Cervantes or associated centres (DELE, SIELE) and those issued by ACLES Associated Centres will be valid, in addition to those indicated by the CRUE language tables for Spanish as a Foreign Language. This requirement is not necessary if the Master's degree is taught in English:

Holders of Spanish or European Higher Education Area (EHEA) degree:

    1. Official Spanish university Bachelor's degree title or, where applicable, another Master's degree.

    2. Degree title awarded by an EHEA higher education institution which gives the right of access to a Master’s degree programme in the country of issue.

    3. Have obtained, as appropriate, the homologation credential or the credential of equivalence declaration to a degree or academic level 2 (MECES) of Bachelor's degree granted by the competent Ministry of Spain.

    4. At the time of pre-registering, be pursuing studies leading to the award of one of the degrees mentioned above and be in a position to vouch to possession of the same in the academic year before commencement of the Master’s degree. For example, to be admitted to a Master’s degree in the academic year 2024-25, you must have a university degree of bachelor in the academic year 2023-24. This will not be necessary if you opt for conditional admission and matriculation.

    5. Conditional admission and matriculation.

Undergraduate students who have yet to complete the Final Project Dissertation and a maximum of 9 ECTS credits, as well as accreditation of the foreign language proficiency required in their case, may be admitted and matriculated.

It should be taken into account that, if the Bachelor's degree or the receipt of payment at the Official Postgraduate Studies Service is not presented, it will not be possible to obtain the degree of the Master's degree being studied.

Following the Conditional Admission Procedure approved at the UAH, in the 2024-25 academic year, conditional admission will not be allowed for the following studies:

      • Access to the Legal Profession.
      • Teacher Training for Compulsory and Upper Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Foreign Language Teaching.
      • Microbiology Applied to Public Health and Infectious Diseases Research.
      • General Health Psychology.
      • Geographical Information Technologies.
  1. Students with non-EHEA degrees:

    1. A degree equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, without the need for the degree to be recognised, but with the university verifying the level of training involved, provided that in the country where the degree has been awarded, it allows access to postgraduate university studies. In no case will access by this route imply the recognition of the previous degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of carrying out the Master's degree studies.

When formalising your pre-registration

When formalising your pre-registration, you must use the “Attach documents” dialogue box to insert the following documents in PDF format (each file can’t exceed 4 MB and the total size can’t exceed 10 MB):

  • Degree Diploma (this document must be legalised once admitted).
  • Transcript of records of studies completed, in base 10, showing official duration of programme of studies in academic years, subjects read, and work-load in hours for each of them. If your transcript of records does not meet these requirements, you must also follow the procedure for the equivalence of average marks for university studies carried out in foreign centres provided by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

    • For UAH graduates, an information sheet stating the number of credits you have left to complete your Bachelor's degree studies.
    • For graduates from other universities, academic certification stating the number of credits you have left to complete your degree studies, as well as proof of matriculation for the credits pending.

  • Verification of the degree title through the free service "Carpeta Ciudadana" (only for degree titles issued in Spain): through the Carpeta Ciudadana application you can download, in the "Educación y Formación" tab, the proof of your university degrees so that we can verify the details of your degree without the need to provide it on paper.
