Goals and competencies

The goals of this Master's degree are in line with the stipulates of the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (MECES) and ensure the achievement of the basic competencies required to obtain a master's degree, following article 3.3, Appendix I of R.D. 1393/2007.

Fulfilment of the goals means students have achieved competencies that must be consistent with the fundamental rights of equality between men and women, with the principles of equal opportunities and universal accessibility for the disabled, and with the values proper to a democratic and peace-loving culture.

Number of places for new students

Total number of places available: 30

Reserved places: 5% for students with a certified disability of 33% or more.

Specific admission conditions

Entry profile

The Master's degree aims to improve territorial management through techniques that enable the generation and integration of geographic information. For this reason, the entry profile is aimed at students with this type of interest. Specifically, the ideal profile would be that of students with undergraduate degrees related to land management and analysis: Geography, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Biology, Geomatics Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Natural Environment Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agro-environmental Engineering, and related subjects.

It will be verified that all students have basic knowledge of Geographic Information Technologies using a detailed study of their academic records. For those students who do not have this basic knowledge, the possibility will be offered of taking a virtual course, specific to the UAH, which will include this knowledge.

Admission criteria
Students will be selected based on their academic profile and previous experience to follow the contents of the master's degree. The selection criteria will be as follows:

  • Academic record, valued between 1 and 4 points. It will count for 60% of the final score for access.
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written. First Certificate level or equivalent: 1; Advanced level or equivalent: 2. 20% of the final mark will count towards access.
  • Motivation. It will be verified with a survey and a letter written by each candidate. The academic committee will evaluate it and will count for 10% of the final score for access.
  • Professional career in these technologies, relevant publications, and other activities. The academic committee will assess this and it will count for 10% of the final score for access.

Timetable

Classes are taught in the morning, but exclusive dedication is required, since it is necessary to carry out autonomous work exercises in the afternoon (studying, practical exercises, etc.), as well as attending thematic seminars and conferences.

Material resources

The master's has a dedicated classroom available to students which can be used during non-teaching hours for individual student work. In the classroom, students have at their disposal a series of reference bibliographic material for consultation, in relation to the subjects studied in the master's. In addition, students have access to all the recommended bibliography through the university libraries
